As a new force in the field of cultural consumption,"Small Town Youth" has become an important increase in the box office of the Chinese film industry.It has also subtly changed the future direction of Chinese film and influenced the production and distribute strategies of domestic films.In-depth study of a series of behaviors of "Small Town Youth" in the cinema watching process will have a positive effect on promoting domestic film creation and prospering the domestic film market.Only by truly understanding the series of actions of "Small Town Youth" in cinema can it truly satisfy the "Small Town Youth" and effectively avoid the negative impact that the "Small Town Youth" cultural consumer group may bring to the development of Chinese film.The core task of this research is to reflect as much as possible the characteristics of "Small Town Youth" in the cinema.Including their choice of film,their choice of cinema,their consumption during movie watching,their performance of the watching process,evaluation of movies and the living background and mental state related to these behaviors.The research adopts the method of qualitative research,and tries to deeply study the inner world of the object by using the perspective of humanities,to understand their current viewing habits and the origins of aesthetic tastes,and to sum up with this as a incision to understand the characteristics of "Small Town Youth" in cinema watching.As an important place to connect films,audiences,and markets,cinema is an important place for research on cinema watching behavior.It is an important medium for conveying information to the audience,and it also forms a certain symbolic meaning through the connection with other theater facilities.In the four-month field investigation,the author continued to observe the six cinemas in LiaoCheng and the counties under the jurisdiction,and through screening through questionnaires incinemas and friends to introduce me two ways,communicate with more than 50 "Small Town Youth",and made key observations and in-depth interviews with 12 of them.At the same time,in the process of establishing contact with key research objects,the author expanded the observation environment from the cinema to the life and work of each observer,trying to present a more stereoscopic "Small Town Youth" cinema watching behavior and possible psychological activities.The study found that the motivation of "Small Town Youth" watching movies at the cinema is to enrich their life,kill time,imitate and boast;they generally lack specificity in the choice of viewing,which is especially common when it comes to foreign movies;in movie watching process,they usually have expenses on food and beverages to some extent.For some part of the study subject,watching film has became a part of a series consumptive activities.In terms of the evaluation of the film,the performance of "Small Town Youth" is more tolerant,and the demand and absorption of the professional film critics are not obvious.On the whole,almost all of the interviewee think of going to the cinema to see a movie as one of the export of daily life,and showing that it is not satisfied with the lack of cultural consumption choices in LiaoCheng.Many of them have said that they can’t stand the barren cultural environment of small cities and have plans to break away from the "small towns" close to big cities.
