| As a transition zone between cities and villages, traditional civilization and modern civilization, the mixed appearance of small towns actually represents the most typical stage in China’s modernization process. While fluid modernity constantly catalyzes changes in the central city, the surrounding towns are also surging under the apparent“No-event Environment”,resonating at the same frequency. The novel Nuclear Boat Story shows how the "Lagging Distance" caused by this "Diversity-orderly Structure" between cities and towns aggravates the oppression of economic violence in the ecology of small towns, and invisibly incarnates a system. It left a lingering spiritual imprint for the young people in the town before they left. This article attempts to explore the struggle and fission that the young people in the small town encountered in their spiritual world before they left, and the reasons why they had to leave in the end.Their powerless state and deep sense of isolation in the small town urge them to continue to travel farther and farther, and start a more difficult journey of self-identification. |
