As one of the key technologies of education information,learning measurement is gradually affecting the reform of education and teaching in higher education.It has become an important means to improve the quality of teaching in the era of large data.At the same time,with the improvement of China’s international status and economic strength,the graduate student’s foreign language ability standards are constantly changing.Both academic and applied graduate students pay more attention to the close connection with the majors they have learned in the training of foreign language proficiency,and promote the enhancement of professional academic level and application ability through the improvement of foreign language proficiency.Therefore,how to scientifically and reasonably measure students’ English comprehensive application ability and provide scientific feedback and promote their comprehensive quality has become an important research topic.This thesis mainly discusses from the three aspects:theoretical research,model construction and demonstration.Firstly,summarizing research status,defining related concepts through reviewing the literature,and reviewing the theory of project response and communicative competence.Secondly,using a variety of research methods to acquire a deeper understanding of the status and insufficiency of English course construction for non-English major postgraduates in Tianjin University,and on this basis,to initially construct a practical foreign language proficiency standard and learning measurement model in accordance with the school curriculum system.The formulation of competence standards and measurement models is based on the different training objectives and curriculum systems of academic and applied graduate students,which differentiating the development direction of two types of postgraduate disciplines: academic postgraduates pay more attention to developing international academic communication skills,which can enable them to use English as a learning tool for the study of professional literature,timely acquire academic information,write academic conference papers,and participate in international academic conferences,etc;and the applied graduate student is based on professional culture,according to the requirements of a specific occupation or discipline to improve the English practical application ability and cross-cultural communication capabilities.Finally,an empirical study was conducted by using engineering application English courses and period-end online professional knowledge measurement as an example to provide an operational level reference.The main purpose of this study is to provide a scientific and rational measurement of postgraduate English comprehensive application ability by constructing a learning measurement model,so as to provide effective feedback,which enable students to timely optimize learning strategies,teachers to adjust teaching methods.Ultimately,it is the highest goal to cultivate talents for internationalization.
