Supported by ubiquitous learning theory and informal learning theory, this study aims to explore the impact of mobile learning on the development of autonomous learning ability of non-English majors in English reading. In this study, the experimental method(pre-and post-test experiment of non-randomly assigned control group),questionnaire method and interviewing method were used. The experimental class and the control class were selected from the natural teaching class without disturbing the original teaching environment. The author carried out a 16-week mobile learning experiment under the condition that the English proficiency of the two classes was basically the same.In the course of the experiment, variables namely as teaching environment, learning materials and content, the number of class hours, the amount of homework, teaching progress and so on that may affect the experimental results were strictly controlled. The research shows that mobile learning has an impact on the development of non-English majors' autonomous learning ability in English reading, whereas the degree of influence in each dimension is different.Firstly, mobile learning significantly improves students' ability to make their English reading learning plans independently.Specifically, mobile learning has played a significant positive role in improving students' ability to plan their English reading learning goals and make their own learning plans.Secondly, mobile learning has an impact on the ability of non-English majors to implement English reading learning plans independently, but it has not played a significant positive role.Specifically, mobile learning can improve students' ability to choose English reading learning methods independently, but there is no significant positive change in their ability to monitor the learning process independently. Finally, mobile learning significantly improves students' ability toevaluate their English reading learning outcomes independently.Based on the above conclusions,in order to achieve an ideal effect of mobile learning, the research puts forward some reflective suggestions pertinently. For example, abundant network resources should be used to attract students' intentional and unintentional attention,so that students' learning interest can be cultivated.Teachers should attach importance to their roles as organizers and instructors in teaching activities. They should help to train students to build their own learning motivation, determine their own learning goals, choose their own learning content, monitor their own learning process and evaluate their own learning outcomes independently.Educators should seek to develop and improve the monitoring function of mobile learning platforms, and learners should also improve their self-monitoring ability.
