| In recent years,“flipped classroom” is a new teaching model that integrates with information technology and it is a challenge to the regular teaching model in college English teaching. The teaching process of flipped classroom teaching model consists of three teaching phases: before class,in class and after class. Before class, students learn basic knowledge and background information through watching micro videos made by teachers. In class, students internalize knowledge through teacher-student interaction,student-student interaction and other activities. After class, students consolidate and review the knowledge they have learned by watching videos again. At present, the grammar-translation teaching method is mainly adopted in the college English reading class. In the English reading class, teachers pay more attention to the translation of sentences and words, and it neglects the subjective initiative of students and the cultivation of students’ independent thinking ability. The thesis adopts empirical research method and demonstrates that the application of flipped classroom teaching model to college English reading teaching can improve students’ English reading achievement and interest. In addition,it puts forward some feasible suggestions for the further studies in college English reading teaching. The conclusion shows that the application of flipped classroom teaching model is of great significance to college English reading teaching. The study is conducted to answer the following two research questions:Can flipped classroom teaching model improve college non-English major students’ English reading achievement? Can flipped classroom teaching model improve the English reading interest of college non-English major students? The research subjects of the study were 108 students who were from the Grade2016 in Northwest Minzu University. The experiment test lasted for 16 weeks.Flipped classroom teaching model was applied in the experimental class to train their English reading. The control class still adopted the regular teaching model. Before and after the experiment, two questionnaire surveys were conducted in the two classes.During theexperiment, four English reading tests were conducted in the two classes. After the experiment, some students were randomly selected and interviewed. Then all the data were analyzed by using SPSS16.0.The statistical results show that under the flipped classroom teaching model, students’ English reading achievement and reading interest in the experimental class are improved, and the English reading achievement and reading interest do not have significant difference in the control class. Therefore,it is concluded that the flipped classroom teaching model can improve the English reading achievement of college non-English majors. At the same time, students’ English reading interest has also been effectively improved with this model.Absolutely, there are still some limitations in this study, which need to be further improved. |
