The purpose of this study is to explore learning motivation and learning strategies which are used by students of Business Chinese major at Dhurakij Pundit University(DPU)in Thailand.The researcher attempts to find out whether there are differences between learning motivation and learning strategy among students of different genders,education level,learning outcomes.In addition,the correlation between learning motivation and learning strategy were also analyzed and explained.In this study,questionnaire is used as the research method.The collected data obtained from the questionnaire are analyzed by SPSS.The results were as following:The main motivation of most Business Chinese major students is"expectation".Male students’ expectation is stronger than female students’,motivation.There are significant differences in the survey:the influence of gender on passive motivation,it found significant difference between teaching situational motivation and education level.And students learning incomes had significant difference to expected motivation and motivation of going abroad.As far as learning strategies are concerned,the most frequently used learning strategy for business Chinese is "social strategy" and the least used learning strategy is"metacognitive strategy".In the survey,there are significant differences in the influence of gender on the use of social strategy.Students’ education level had significant difference to memory strategy.There are significant diferrence to memory strategy,cognitive strategy and metacognitive strategy on students’ learning outcomesThere is a significant positive correlation between the intensity of learning motivation and the use of learning strategy among Business Chinese major students.This indicates that there is an interactive relationship between learning motivation and learning strategy.And Interest motivation is the most effective using learning strategy.Based on the observation and analysis,the researcher finds that the students of 1Business Chinese major at Dhurakij Pundit University in Thailand are weak in learning motivation and learning strategies.During in-depth interviews with the teachers of Business Chinese major in this university,the researcher puts forward the following suggestions:learners should be guided to correctly recognize the importance of learning motivation and learning strategies;to establish the active use of learning strategies in order to achieve twice the result with half the effort in learning;the school also should make full use of the economic value of Business Chinese by creating a good teaching situation,taking personal development as the motivation basis,cultivating learners to find out learning strategies that meet their own characteristics and apply them.Currently,there are relatively few researches on Business Chinese students’learning motivation and learning strategies.Having said so,this study can be considered a valuable and meaningful research.This research puts forward reliable suggestions on learning motivation and learning strategy training for at Dhurakij Pundit University in Thailand,hoping to contribute to the research in this field.
