English writing is an important and difficult part of students? English learning because it requires students to have a large amount of language reserve knowledge,and requires students to have higher language output ability,which is the embodiment of students? comprehensive English ability.Nowadays,due to the lack of cognitive level of junior high school students and known reserves,the problems in English writing are more prominent.According to the requirements of the new curriculum standards for junior high school,the school should pay attention to it and put forward more efficient and reasonable English writing teaching methods to improve students? English writing skills.Memetics was proposed by Richard Dawkins in 1976 to explain the laws of cultural evolution.The language itself is a meme,and it is the main carrier of meme communication.When words,sentence patterns,paragraphs,articles? inheritance,and composition structure are copied and propagated through imitation,they become the language memes.Successful language memes have gone through four stages,namely assimilation,retention,expression and transmission,which are basically the same as the four stages of second language acquisition,namely input,memorization,output,and interaction,so can be used to guide junior high school English writing.Based on the above background,the English writing teaching proposed in this thesis is based on Memetics,and explores whether it can provide effective help for students? English writing.The subjects selected in this study are two parallel classes in the ninth grade of Qiaonan Junior High School in Qin?an County,with a total of 106 students.One class is an experimental class,and the writing is guided by Memetics.The other class is a control class,and the writing is guided by traditional writing teaching mode,with an experimental period of eight weeks.The experiment uses questionnaire,interview,and test to collect data.The collected data is analyzed by SPSS(19.0),finally the author concludes that English writing teaching based on Memetics can improve students? negative writing attitude.Most students do not fear writing like before,students? writing enthusiasm is improved,and writing enthusiasm is stimulated.After the teaching training based on Memetics,students? English writing performance is improved in vocabulary,sentences and text organization,the most obvious progress made in sentences.This thesis has practical significance of providing effective guidance for junior middle school English writing teaching,at the same time,there are still a series of deficiencies in this thesis,such as the experimental period is too short,the experimental tools are not perfect,etc.,further research can expand the scope of the test and extend the experiment cycle,making the research more perfect and plays a greater role in the future of English writing teaching.
