A Study On Post-editing Efficiency Of Creative Text

In recent years,machine translation technology has made great progress,but its quality still needs to be improved.Hence,post-editing attracts widely attention of translators.At present,there are more and more researches on post-editing at home and abroad,but there are few researches on post-editing efficiency and factors affecting post-editing efficiency.Therefore,the translator carries out research on the post-editing efficiency,affecting factors and corresponding solutions to improve post-editing.This translation project uses the translation mode of “MT+CAT+PE”(Machine Translation + Computer-Assisted Translation + Post-editing),and applies it to the translation of creative texts to explore the post-editing efficiency of creative texts.First,the translator uses Google Translate to pre-translate the source text of Chapter 7 of The Epic of America and then imports the Google Translate version into MemoQ for post-editing.In the post-editing process,the translator mainly adopts the Pomodoro Technique,in order to prevent the translator from being affected by external factors to a certain extent.At the same time,the translator records the post-editing process and the revision process with a screen recording tool.Finally,the translator uses the actual translation cases to show that the translation mode can improve the post-editing efficiency of creative text to a certain degree.At the same time,the translator explores the human and machine factors affecting the post-editing efficiency and proposes corresponding solutions.By writing this report,the translator has a deeper understanding of machine translation and post-editing.In addition,the translator hopes that through this report,readers can have a preliminary understanding of post-editing and factors affecting post-editing efficiency.At the same time,it is also hoped that the solutions to improve post-editing efficiency proposed in this report can be applied in future translation projects,so as to improve the post-editing efficiency to some degree.
