Study On Sheng-ci In Southeastern Region Of The Southern Song Dynasty

Sheng-ci was built by local scholars and people in ancient China in order to thank someone for their contribution to the place,mainly for the officials who contributed.Sheng-ci originated in the Han Dynasty and increased significantly till the Southern Song Dynasty,which is especially popular in the southeastern region.This paper will study Sheng-ci in southeastern China from the following four aspects:Firstly,the basic situation of Sheng-ci in the southeastern part of the Southern Song Dynasty.This paper combs the construction situation,space-time distribution characteristics and the main objects of sacrifice in the southeastern region of Southern Song Dynasty,and then grasps the universality of Sheng-ci construction,the difference of space-time distribution and the characteristics of choosing sacrificial objects in the southeastern region of Southern Song Dynasty.Secondly,the reasons for the construction of Sheng-ci in the southeastern region of Southern Song Dynasty.The construction of Sheng-ci in southeastern China is closely r elated to the background of the times.It is directly related to the heavy tax and exploitat ion,the continuous local unrest,the frequent occurrence of natural disasters,and so on.Of course,the policies of the court and the local actions of officials are also the factors t o promote the construction of Sheng-ci in southeastern China.Since the construction of Sheng-ci was based on the local actions of officials,we can grasp the social conditions o f the southeastern region at that time from this perspective.Thirdly,the procedures,locations and participants of the Sheng-ci construction in the southeastern part of the Southern Song Dynasty.Before the construction of Sheng-ci,there were petitions and site selection.As a kind of local public affairs,the construction of Sheng-ci was clearly stipulated in Song Dynasty law,but in fact it was not strictly implemented in accordance with the law.The place where the Sheng-ci is built is very important,which is directly related to the purpose of building Sheng-ci andthe desired effect.The construction of Sheng-ci is difficult and time-consuming,so it demands the participation and cooperation of local officials,local elites and so on.Fourthly,the local social characteristics,local expectations and social significance reflected in the Sheng-ci construction in the southeastern region of Southern Song Dynasty.Through the above discussion on the general situation,construction reasons and construction of Sheng-ci in the southeastern region of Southern Song Dynasty,we can grasp the characteristics of local society in South Song Dynasty.There are three main aspects: good relations between local officials and local people in a certain period of time;local officials and local elites jointly promote the development of local affairs;the social network of sacrificials promotes the construction of Sheng-ci.At the same time,the construction of Sheng-ci also embodies the local people’s good expectations of local officials.In addition,after the construction of Sheng-ci in the southeastern region of Southern Song Dynasty,it will have a certain impact on the worshiped officials themselves,as well as on the local area,which has a certain social significance.In the concluding part,we can see the basic characteristics of this area through Sheng-ci in the southeastern part of the Southern Song Dynasty.
