Mendelssohn is one of the most representative composers in Germany during the Romantic period.His overture A Midsummer Night's Dream created the genre of the titled musical overture,based on the overture as the A Midsummer Night's Dream drama has a high artistic value because of the exquisite use of music as a drama vocabulary,and it has become a model for studying the style of Mendelssohn's drama.This thesis takes the drama of A Midsummer Night's Dream as the research object.Based on the basic level of music technique analysis,this paper makes an innovative analysis of the drama connotation expressed by the works from the macro and micro perspectives,and further explores the highly integrated performance of music and drama.This is of great significance for us to grasp the same type of works and to peep into the formal structure and content of the theatrical soundtrack.This thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.It elaborates on the research object,the research status,the innovation significance and research methods of this article,the plot of A Midsummer Night's Dream and the soundtrack creation.The second chapter focuses on the macro-structure analysis of A Midsummer Night's Dream.Through a detailed review of the drama structure of the play,the author deeply understands the drama layout characteristics,the genre's drama function and the music structure layout,and discusses the multi-genre form.How to arrange the dramatic macro structure of the work with clever track settings,dramatic functions of different genres,rich and varied structure,clear sentence reading,and unified tonal layout,further learns Mendelssohn's basic creative intention of expressing "emotion" in drama and "meaning" in literature by means of music.In the third chapter,from the perspective of micro-technique,through the evolution of the theme,the analysis of harmony,texture and orchestration,it is demonstrated how Mendelssohn developed romantic melody,narrative harmony and personalized orchestration.To create a multi-theme musical character,and then to display the dramatic tone layout of the work;through the unified correspondence between the soundtrack theme and the drama narrative context,to realize the three dramatic practical functions of character shaping,scene depiction and narrative structure,further explore music and drama in The influence of music itself on symbiosis and mutual integration,in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the work.Chapter IV is the conclusion,which integrates the content of Chapter II and Chapter III,summarizes the analysis of this paper from the aspects of the overall structural force of the works and the expression of dramatic tension and the inheritance significance of the works,and provides a reference case for the interdisciplinary nature of dramatic music-dramatic research.
