A Study On Demand Of Chinese Learners In University Al Azhar Confucius Institution

With the growth of Chinese economy and increasing popularity of international communication in recent years,the demand for learning Chinese has been growing dramatically all over the world.Confucius Institute of University A1 Azhar,which is first Confucius Institution in Indonesia,was established in Jakarta,2010.Just like what happens in other regions,with the uprising number of learners and increasing scale of teaching,some problems reveal in the Confucius Institution that researcher currently works at.Those problems are likely due to the fact that teachers and managers do not have sufficient understanding of the solid demand of learners during the course of study.Based on facts above,this research has focused on Chinese learners in University Al Azhar.Based on the demand analysis pattern of foreign experts,this research has conducted in the way of combining related research outcome of China scholars and the actual conditions of teaching.By adopting the research method of observation,interview,questionnaire and related statistical method of SPSS,the research has conducted an analysis targeting on professional and non-professional students in this Confucius Institute,and further analysis the problems and difficulties faced by this Confucius Institute.Also,suggestions were provided accordingly from the perspective of the institute,teacher and students.Moreover,the research has successfully collected sufficient information to understand students’ real demand,like their learning duration,expected Chinese language competency after study,and their study goals.The researcher conducted the analysis with the hope that the design and implementation of Chinese teaching can be more target-oriented,achieving the goal of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and needs.
