A Study On The Kernel Words Of Human Body In Naxi Language

Kernel words are the most stable part of vocabulary,which is less affected by time.Therefore,through the study of kernel words,we can better understand the language,find out the basic law of language evolution,and understand the role of cognition in language development.From the view of kernel words,this paper conducts a study of Naxi language,choosing more stable body kernel words from Swadish’s 100 Words List as the specific research object,in order to further understand Naxi language and help the compilation of Naxi language dictionary.This paper chooses 21 kernel words and divides them into two parts,one is "person" meaning and the other is the body word.The research is carried out from the phonetics,meaning and Dongba script,compared with the Chinese of the same Sino-Tibetan language family and the English of the Indo-European language family.The research materials used in this paper include the language materials,the scripts of Dongba in the five Naxi-inhabited areas of Lijiang,Eya,Lugu Lake,Wushuwan and Dongba,as well as the published Naxi dictionaries and several Dongba scripts dictionaries.The study finds that the phonetics of different places are basically the same,differences are mostly influenced by dialects;the development of word meanings in different places is basically the same,most of the word are based on the original meaning,and the meaning of words is less than that of Chinese and English.Compared with the three languages,the Naxi language embodies the state of equality and harmony between man and nature(especially between man and animals),such as "skin","meat" and "teeth".Through the study of body kernel words in Naxi language and the comparison with Chinese and English,this paper finds that the development and evolution of Naxi language have similarities and differences with the development of Chinese and English,and finds that cognition plays a guiding role in the development and evolution of language.
