With the development of MTI of our country, the talent cultivation mode with Chinese characteristics has attracted considerable attention from scholars abroad.Academic conferences set up a platform for all MTI scholars' discussion of the development of MTI education and at the same time provide support for all scholars abroad who want to consult the cultivation mode of translators and interpreters. As a bridge for communications, conference interpretation plays a decisive part in the “going abroad” strategy of teaching modes of China. This report is based on the mock simultaneous interpreting task of the keynote speech entitled Development Status Quo and Challenges of MTI by Chai Mingjiong, dean of Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation SISU,at Forum on MTI Education and Teaching in the New Era & The 2nd Liaoning MTI Symposium on Education and Teaching on July 14 th,2018.From the genre point of view, practice material of the task belongs to academic lecture with extensive professional expertise. The excessive terminology as well as the unpredictability of the speaker's words make it a challenge for the interpreter. While at the language level,in order to obtain a better effect of the lecture, the speaker always speaks in simple and straightforward language which might cause a series of problems including information redundancy, semantic ambiguity, sentences without subjects and culture-loaded words. All these problems become barriers for the interpreter. In view of the problems above, this report, guided by Translation Variation Theory, managed to find out corresponding solutions with the guidance of omission, revision, amplification as well as interpretation. This report details the complete process of this mock interpreting task and analyzes some specific examples for exploring the feasibility of the introduction of amplification, omission, revision as well as interpretation of Translation Variation Theory into interpreting tasks. It is hoped to provide little enlightenment for interpreting practices and future researches.
