| English reading plays an important role in senior high school.As is known to all,it is necessary for students to develop their interest in reading and reading skills.In recent years,Chinese Ministry of Education has required that the teaching of senior high school English teachers should conform to the standards of educational curriculum,so teachers need to choose new teaching mode which is more suitable for the teaching of English reading.Through reading works about previous research on English reading teaching,the author finds that most students are not optimistic about English reading.What’s worse,some of them are not interested in English reading learning at all.It is urgent to find new teaching models to improve the current situation.Flipped classroom model is a new teaching model which originated from the United States,and it means to re-adjust the learning time and transfer the leading role from teachers to students.This model aims to change traditional ways that treat teachers as the center of classroom,and lead students to develop their learning ability through self-study.In the process of collecting related materials on flipped classroom model,the author finds that flipped classroom model is often applied to teaching in university.Therefore,the author intends to conduct an empirical research on the applicability of flipped classroom model in English reading teaching in senior high school.According to the features of flipped classroom model,the author divides the reading into three stages: pre-class,in-class,after-class,and the coordination and combination between these three parts can help flipped classroom model applied more effectively.The author carries out a teaching experiment to explore the feasibility of flipped classroom model in English reading teaching in senior high school.Through the experiment,the author intends to answer the following three questions:1.How can flipped classroom model be applied to senior high school English reading teaching effectively?2.What is the impact of flipped classroom model on senior high school students’ attitudes towards English reading?3.How does the application of flipped classroom model affect the English reading ability of senior high school students?The author uses literature analysis,questionnaires and experimental method to prove the effectiveness and feasibility of flipped classroom model in English reading teaching in senior high school.120 students of two classes in Grade One of Zhangheng Senior High School are chosen as the research objects of this experiment.There are 60 students in each class.Class 3 is the experimental class(EC)in which the author uses flipped classroom model.Class 5 is the control class(CC)in which the author uses traditional teaching model.The teaching experiment lasts for 21 weeks from September 1st,2018 to January 26 th,2019.Tests and questionnaires are conducted during this period.The results of this experiment show that the application of flipped classroom model brings some changes to senior high school English reading teaching.Firstly,flipped classroom model has a positive influence on senior high school English reading learning.For example,it can increase students’ interest in reading and improve their independent learning ability.Secondly,flipped classroom model can improve classroom atmosphere,solve difficulties in the process of students’ self-reading and enhance students’ enthusiasm for participation in class.However,flipped classroom model may cause some problems in English reading teaching practice.For example,this model distracts students’ attention,making them addicted to mobile phones or computers and unable to concentrate on their study.This thesis consists of six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,including the research background,research significance,research questions,research methods and structure of the thesis.The second chapter is literature review,which is about the research on English reading teaching,flipped classroom model,and the application of flipped classroom model to English reading teaching at home and abroad.The third chapter is theoretical framework,which introduces the theoretical basis of flipped classroom model,the definition of flipped classroom model and flipped classroom model of English reading teaching.The fourth chapter describes the research design in detail.The fifth chapter is the analysis and discussion of the experimental data.The sixth chapter draws the conclusion of this teaching experiment. |
