The author worked as an intern in Italian Atlantyca Company,a children book publisher,in August 2015.During the internship period,the author is responsible for the translation of Atlantyca 2016 Right List.The List gives a brief introduction on company children book products with 20 thousand words,which showsthe distinctive features on children literature.Aiming at the research on translation skills and strategies,the thesis focuses on children literature and gives an explanation to the definition,purpose and translation principles on children literature.To maintain a high quality of the translation,the thesis gives a discussion on the children's cognitive-developmental theory which is delivered by Jean Piaget,and shows a full concern on children reader.According to the children's cognitive-developmental theory,the cognition of children can be delivered by four processes:sensorimotor stage,preoperational stage,concrete operations stage and formal operations stage.Considering the different cognitive features of children in different stages,the thesis analyses different translation strategies respectively.For newborn babies who belongs to sensorimotor stage,the language expression will not be involved more,because babies learn the world by pictures,colors and sounds.For preoperational stage children,their cognition sense begins and the translation sentences should be as short as possible with a clear and easy structure.The children's cognition of concrete operations stage will be largely developed,but it still has its own limit.Reasoning and logic will be involved in many books in this time.As a translator,we should translate the background or foreshadowing clearly so as to help children to think.Finally,children's cognition will be furthered as an adult level when formal operations stage arrives.Translators could pay more attention to the essence of source passage and try to keep a coordination with source language.Thechildren's cognitive-developmental theory demonstrates a clear clue on children's conception and language expression during different ages,which guides the translator to complete the project clearly.With a practical purpose,the thesis gives a specific analysis and conclusion on book name and text contents through practical examples.The project is finished in June 2016 and receive a praise of clients.The right list has been used in 23th Beijing International Book Fairs.The understanding of children literature,the coordination of varies translation strategies and the guidance of the children's conception of time are necessary for the thesis and all of them provides more ideas on children literature translation.
