In the long history of the development of Chinese painting,color,as one of the important painting languages,has been in a relationship with the vocabulary of ink painting.Traditional Chinese painting has been deeply deposited.As an important concept of the theoretical basis of Chinese painting color,"color with class" has been one of the important bases for the appreciation and evaluation of painting in the past dynasties since Xie He in the southern Qi dynasty proposed it in the ancient painting catalogue.With the influx of western painting thoughts,the development of Chinese painting is becoming more and more diversified,and the color concept of modern and contemporary Chinese painting is gradually showing a trend of diversified development also.Only by understanding the traditional color concept from a comprehensive and developmental perspective and the traditional cultural connotation behind it can we better grasp the reasons why the traditional Chinese painting color concept changes in different periods and thus have a better understanding of the essence of the Chinese painting color concept.This article starts from several traditional color views,then makes a longitudinal study about traditional views of colour in different historical periods and horizontal comparison between transverse attitudes of Chinese and western color contrast,focuses on the use of color in Chinese painting,behind the deep investigation on the cultural aesthetic tendency,so as to grasp the application of color in contemporary flower-and-bird painting better.
