Parallel prose plays an important role in the history of Chinese literature.Since the beginning of Chinese prose,parallel prose has existed.Despite its rise and fall,parallel prose has always developed with Chinese literature.From the perspective of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,parallel prose is not suitable for classroom teaching.Therefore,it is of great significance to the English translation of parallel prose.Starting from the ontological study of parallel prose,this paper studies the external communication value of parallel prose,analyzes its translation by overseas sinologists,discusses the matters needing attention in the English translation of parallel prose,and thinks about its external communication strategies.Based on the ontology research of parallel prose,this paper examines parallel prose’s external communication value,analyzes the relevant parallel prose translations of overseas sinologists,probes into the matters needing attention in parallel prose English translation,and ponders on its communication strategy.The thesis is divided into six parts.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the domestic research situation of parallel prose,the spread of parallel prose outside China and the research status of parallel prose overseas.According to the collected data,the current situation of parallel prose overseas dissemination is not optimistic.Therefore,it is necessary to promote the spread of parallel prose.The second chapter mainly explains the English translation name of "pian-wen" and the stylistic knowledge which involved in.It is suggested that "pian-wen" is a concept of " genre ",should be translated into parallel prose.And then,briefly introduces the development,definition and differentiation of parallel prose with other literary styles in the history of Chinese literature,aiming at clarifying which should be spread as parallel prose.The third chapter introduces the basic characteristics of parallel prose and its projected national cultural psychology.As an article style running through the whole literary history,the emergence and development of parallel prose to a great extent reflect the national cultural psychology of our country.By translating and popularizing the parallel prose,it is helpful for foreign readers to understand the spiritual culture of the Chinese nation.The fourth chapter analyzes the English translation value of parallel prose.Compared with other traditional literature,the spread of parallel prose in foreign countries is not optimistic,mainly because it was regarded as an aristocratic literature in China for a long time,which has certain historical factors.So,before translating and introducing parallel prose,it is necessary to re-evaluate its value.The fifth chapter introduces and analyzes some parallel prose translation works of overseas sinologists,which are different in style,translator and age.Through this choice,showing the different appearance of parallel prose which belong to different genres as far as possible.The sixth chapter puts forward several principles of parallel prose translation and puts forward some opinions on its communication strategies.
