| There is a sense of deconstruction in Zhu Shanpo’s novels in terms of plot setting, character portrait, the emotional tone of the stories and even in the narrative angles and his wording and phrasing.Throughout Zhu’s creation course, the rebellion against the established convention, and the dissolution of the existing reality have both been important characteristics of his work.On the other hand, these characteristics have also been emphasised and reinforced by the novel itself as a literary genre. This paper utilizes deconstructionism as a breaking point, and attempts to sort out and make a serial interpretation of Zhu’s three published novels, namely The Spiritual Autobiography Of Ma Qiangzhuang,A Coward’s Biography – Stuff The Brave And Starve The Timid, and An Early Warning Of The Storm. These three novels have logical interconnections in between and mark the milestones of Zhu’s creation course, which contains an implicit deconstructional writing style and creative logic throughout. The author will try to analyze the deconstructional sense in each of Zhu’s three novels, and by categorizing and contrasting, unearth some implicit style elements in Zhu’s work which were overlooked in the past literatures. The paper concludes that the sense of deconstruction in Zhu’s novels is manifested through the protagonists’ dreams and choices, the deconstruction of language and the narrative structures. The handling of language and logics is flawed in his early works but consequencely serves as a major improvement in his recent works. The breakthrough in the female character portrait is also a great step-forward for Zhu Shanpo in his writing progress. |
