In 1985,the first AIDS patient appeared in China. At that time,Chinese regarded AIDS as a result of the decay of capitalist society, and HIV carriers or AIDS patients were labeled as "immorality" "Sexual indulgence" and "Moral corruption." In the 1990s,due to the lack of government supervision of the plasma market, many poor people were infected with AIDS.Accordingly,"AIDS Village" has attracted great attention at home and abroad.During that time,AIDS began to bear multiple meanings such as mess, poverty, death, and greed. However, compared with 34 years ago,the stigma and criticisms of AIDS have been diluted, but they still exist In the history of human resistance to AIDS,the mass media such as newspapers, television, and radio have played a significant role.In the historical process of human and AIDS resistance, the mass media such as newspapers, television, and radio played a huge role.Especially the film and television which have played an important role in the stigma and decontamination of AIDS.In 1988,China’s first AIDS film,AIDS Patients, was released. In the following thirty-four years, more than 20 movies and TV works with the theme of AIDS appeared.Through the statistical analysis of these film and television works,I found that the development of AIDS film and television in China has gone through three stages:the first stage(1985-2000):the stage of fear, the works showed social panic, and regarded AIDS as "external disease".And the "era of the times";the second stage(2001-2010):the stage of policies,at this stage,AIDS film and television creations were subject to government intervention. These works not only call for opposition to social discrimination, but also focus on AIDS education, public policy propaganda, and they focus on humane care for people living with HIV/AIDS;The third stage(2011-now):The theme of the work is diversified. They are no longer satisfied with AIDS science or simply call for social care, but focus on the diverse and healthy development of AIDS patients/infected people as "humans".On the one hand, these film and television works have contributed to the "other"image of AIDS/HIV.On the other hand, they have contributed to the desalination of AIDS stigma. This paper analyzes and interprets these film and television works in the context of China’s society, political and cultural background. The study found that China’s film and television works have shaped four types of AIDS characters. That is,the"immoral" with chaotic personal life, the poverty sufferers, the innocent victims and the redeemer. To some extent, these typed roles reflect the objective image of AIDS/HIV in the real world. But at the same time,it has also constructed a type of AIDS "other"image. In the development of history, although the image of the "other" has changed a lot and the image characteristics have undergone many changes. But the HII/AIDS have never been able to get rid of the shackles of the Mother."They were labeled as stereotypes such as prostitution, drug abuse, poverty, ignorance, perversion, etc.,becoming immoral, sinful, hateful and pathetic at a time. However, while the HII/AIDS suffer from discrimination, exclusion, and misunderstanding,a positive kind of redeemer has emerged in AIDS film and television screen. They have conscience and responsibility.Although they are suffering from diseases, they are mentally healthy and even morally noble. The emergence of such a subversive screen image has had a profound impact on the elimination of AIDS stigma and social discrimination. But in fact, they are still the result of the selective construction and presentation of the mainstream of society.Their appearance meets the expectations of the society and they are shaped by ethical discipline. All in all,the development of the image of AIDS patients/infected persons in China’s film and television works is inextricably linked with the government’s public policies, politics and culture, media reports.
