Teaching practice is an important part of English teacher education. It provides new ideas and inspiration for students of the practice schools concerning their English learning and plays an important role in their English learning strategies. At present, some research achievements have been made in China and abroad in the effect of teaching practice, but most of them focus on its effect on English teacher students and few on its effect upon the practice school students.During teaching practice,English teacher students carry out independent teaching and class management activities with help from their guidance teachers. It is an important stage on which the practice school students can acquire English learning strategies, and therefore,is significant for the acquisition of English learning strategies by the practice school students.Based on this situation, the present study attempts to explore, from the perspective of the effect of one behavior on another, the influence of teaching practice on English learning strategies of the practice school students.Around this theme, this study puts forward three specific research questions:1.Are there any changes in English learning strategies of the practice school students before and after teaching practice? If yes, what are the changes?2.What are the factors that influence English learning strategies of the practice school students during the period of teaching practice?3.According to the above influencing factors, what should English teacher students do to help the practice school students improve English learning strategies? Therefore, questionnaires and interviews are used as research tools.According to “New English Curriculum Standards(2011)”(Appendix 1),the questionnaire concerning the practice school students' English learning strategies are compiled by following CET-5learning strategies standard. The questionnaires are distributed among 128 junior middle school students, who are the objects of teaching practice of Qingdao University English teacher students of Grade 2015.Interviews are conducted with 3 English teacher students and 3 guidance teachers in the practice schools. The research results show that English learning strategies of the practice school students have changed before and after teaching practice. There are obvious changes in their communicative strategy, yet the change for their cognitive strategy, regulatory strategy and resource strategy,is not obvious.Through the analysis of interviews, the research concludes that there are subjective factors and objective factors that influence English learning strategy acquisition of the practice school students.Subjective factors come from the practice school students and English teacher students. Objective factors are mainly concerned with curriculum, guidance teachers and realistic conditions in of normal colleges and universities or universities.Based on the analysis of the research results and the reasons above, this paper puts forward from different perspectives the following four suggestions regarding the acquisition of English learning strategies for the practice school students: first of all,English teacher students should constantly update their teaching ideas, master effective English learning strategies, and handle the relationship between teaching practice and English learning strategy acquisition.Secondly, guidance teachers should provide adequate pre-job training and instruction for teacher students.Furthermore, the practice school students should grasp the specific methods of English learning strategies. Finally, normal colleges and universities of universities should respond positively to curriculum reform, provide specific subjects of English learning strategies for English teacher students, and help their students make full preparations for teaching practice.
