Investigation Of The Propagation Progression Of European Vocal Music In China During The Late Qing And Early Republic Period

As early as the Tang Dynasty,Nestorianism preached into China as one type of the early Christianity.Together,the chant and singing of Nestorianism was also preached.At this time,European vocal music was introduced into China.Subsequently,European vocal music was spread as one type of Christian music in China all the time through Yuan and Ming Dynasty.At the Late Qing Dynasty,outbreak of the opium War opened the gateway of China thoroughly,which accelerated the spread of European vocal music in China and influenced the development of Chinese vocal music deeply.With Christian music as the major route of transmission,the Christians brought European vocal music into China indirectly by carrying out a devil of missionary activities or establishing missionary schools in late Qing Dynasty.Simultaneously,the Christians in China began to translate the Bible and the Psalm,and compiled the St.of poetry in Chinese style.At this time,Bel Canto Artistic Style of Singing,which is strange to Chinese,break the proper concepts of the method and teaching of singing in China and broadened their field of vision.At Early years of the Republic of China,spring up of the New Culture Movement excitated Strong desire in the able persons to develop new culture and reform the old China.With the spirits of unliberated China reconstruction,the feeling of strangeness in the bulk of Chinese evolved into accept and learning gradually.The School music,which emerged at the beginning of the twentieth century,was composed with the European tunes mostly.As the rise up of professional music club,they organized and set up the press and magazine of music to spread the culture of Western music.At the same time,the introduction of European vocal music also promoted the development of Vocal music education career in our country.A flood of young persons with ideal and integrity studying abroad return back home with achievement,organized the foundations of professional music colleges,and carried out scientific and systematic vocal music teaching,which consummated the vocal music education enterprise in our country.In addition,the vocalists from European began to go to China in succession for setting up personal concert,or entered into professional music colleges for participating in teaching,which opened up a stretch of the avenue for the dissemination and development of European vocal music in China directly.After the development for hundreds of years,the vocal music career in our country developed very fast,with a flood of admirable vocalist coming to the fore.However,the development of vocal music career cannot do without vocal music education.Herein,we undertook several reflect aiming at the development status of vocal music education in modern times at the end of this paper,wishing to render a contribution to the development of vocal music education in our country.
