Opinion Dynamics Model And Public Opinion Guidance Strategy Based On Cognitive Styles: Field- Dependence And Field-independence

Public opinion has a significant impact on national security and social stability.The formation of public opinion is itself a process of individual cognition.Two distinct cognitive styles exist from the perspective of cognition: field-dependence and field-independence.Opinion dynamics is an important method to study the law of evolution of public opinion.In most opinion dynamics models,people only consider that individuals update their opinions through interactions with other individuals.This represents the field-dependent cognitive style of the individual.In addition,with the development of the Internet and artificial intelligence technology,the personalized recommendation pattern has gradually become one of the main ways of the current social information movement,and more information similar to their opinions would be pushed to individuals,which could also affect the formation of individuals' opinions in the evolution of public opinion.Therefore,it is of great significance to introduce the field-independent cognition style of individual into the opinion dynamics and combine the information movement mode of personalized recommendation to study the evolution law of public opinion in society.In this thesis,cognitive psychology is deeply integrated with the opinion dynamics,two cognitive styles of individual's field-independence and field-dependence in the evolution of public opinion are comprehensively considered,and the opinion dynamics model based on cognitive styles(CS model)is proposed in combination with the information movement mode of personalized recommendation prevailing in the current society.This model reflects the field-dependent cognition and field-independent cognition respectively through the opinion value of neighbor within the confidence threshold and the opinion value generated by independent analysis of personalized recommendation information,and updates the individual's opinion jointly by combining these two cognitive styles.In this thesis,simulation experiments are conducted to verify that the CS and Hegselmann–Krause(HK)models are similar in terms of public opinion evolution trends;with an increase in radius of confidence,the steady state of a social system shifts from divergence to polarization and eventually reaches consensus.Considering that individuals from different cultures have different degrees of inclination for the two styles,we find that when an individual has a greater tendency toward the field-independent cognitive style under the influence of culture,the time required for a social system to reach a steady state will increase;the system will have greater difficultly in reaching consensus,mirroring the evolutionary trends in public opinion in the context of eastern and western cultures.This thesis analyzes the different evolution trends of public opinion caused by the personalized recommendation pattern,and verifies the influence of the "information cocoon" formed by the personalized recommendation pattern on the polarization of public opinion.Through the simulation experiment,the thesis studies the public opinion guidance strategy combining personalization and generic push,and finds that this strategy can reduce the polarization degree of the system,and has the function of guiding the development trend of public opinion toward convergence.The CS model proposed in this thesis and its extension not only make the model of opinion dynamic more consistent with reality,but also provide a reference for cross-cultural research and public opinion governance strategy research,which has certain guiding significance.
