With the development of translation and the acceleration of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries,the development of translation of Chinese and foreign literature works and translation study are also speeding up.There has been rapid development in children's literature translation and its study.A lot of outstanding children's literature works have emerged in foreign countries,too.In the translation of children's literature,there are so many translation standards,strategies and methods,of which there remains too much to be discussed.The study of children's literature translation is also of great significance and selection of translation strategies and translation methods is very important in the translation process.On the basis of George Steiner's fourfold translation motion,which includes“trust”,“aggression”,“incorporation” and “compensation” and based on the E-C translation of The Story of Patsy,this report analyzes the choice of translation strategies and translation methods in translation process of children's literature is in agreement with the four steps from the viewpoint of culture and language.What's more,this report makes a case analysis of the E-C translation of The Story of Patsy on cultural and linguistic level by applying George Steiner's fourfold translation motion.Finally,the translation strategies and translation methods of children's literature translation that should be adopted can be decided in the future.From the translation report,the present author has a clearer understanding of the sequence and significance of translation steps and know how to choose translation methods and strategies when translating children's literature works like The Story of Patsy in view of George Steiner's fourfold translation motion.This report can provide some suggestions on the translation of similar children's literature and theapplication of George Steiner's fourfold translation motion.
