Li Peifu,a writer from Henan Province,has always settled himself on the Central Plains and recorded the escape,transformation and growth of individuals on this piece of land that nurtures them.He has never ceased narrating his own stories on the plain.Adhering to the spirit of writings are for conveying truth,his works focus on the lives on Central Henan where he lived,and the sincere feelings and unique style have attracted much attention in recent years.He steps onto the spineless land through realistic literary works and reproduces the historical pictures of the Central Plains relying on his absolute sincerity.The natural scenery of countryside and the emotional connection among individuals are vividly described in Li Peifu’s local novels,such as Big Man,Golden House,Wait for Your Soul,the Plain,the Countryside,etc..In the first chapter,it conducts out a discussion on the origin of nativ e land complex showed by Li Peifu’s novels and the current environment.It includes three aspects: The first one is Lu Xun’s writing of "Mourning t heir misfortune and angering at their resignation to adversity";The secon d is the influence of "pastoral" literary style hold by Shen Congwen’s in t he 1930 s.The last is the inspiration of cultural reflection shown by RootSeeking novels in the 1980 s.It is the common influence of internal conditions and external contexts that led Li Peifu to start his literary root-seekin g sail and reflect on the vicissitudes of his native land.The second chapter discusses the evolution of rural world in his works from 3 perspectives,namely,the poetic primitive homeland,the drift from lost city to impetuous town,and the future transformation of countryside.The third chapter analyzes the creation of local literature from the following angles: the understanding of human nature,the reflection of existential philosophy,and the concern for current development.The chapter four explains value demands of local world,which expounds Li Peifu’s introspection of urban and rural social environment and his illusions of rural ideal.
