| Lexical chunk is an important language unit and a semi-finished product of language.Moreover,it is also a combination of vocabulary and grammar.Lexical chunks are regarded as a bridge between language input and output in the process of writing.At the same time,it can also improve the fluency and authenticity of learners’ writing.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to apply lexical chunks theory to writing teaching.On the basis of previous studies,the author attempts to apply lexical chunks theory to English writing teaching.In this research,the following research questions are raised by the author :(1)How will the introduction of lexical chunks theory in writing teaching affect the English writing performance of junior high school students?(2)What is the relationship between the students’ English writing performance and the usage of lexical chunks’ quantity?(3)What role does the application of lexical chunks theory play in fostering junior high school students’ interest in English writing?In the process of demonstrating the above research questions,the author mainly adopted the methods of literature review,experimental research and questionnaire survey.By consulting the relevant literature,the author found that the subjects of relevant researches are mainly senior high school students and college students,there are few studies on junior high school students.Therefore,the author applied lexical chunk theory to the English writing teaching in the grade eight of junior middle school in this thesis.In the experiment,the author regarded the texts of each unit as lexical chunks resources to guide the students to identify,practice and consolidate writing-related lexical chunks.The author also took the students from two parallel classes in Grade 8 of Bijie Fengshan Junior Middle School as experimental subjects,there are 40 students in each class.Lexical chunks teaching approach is adopted in the experimental class and conventional teaching method is applied in the control class.The author conducted pre-test and post-test in two classes,collected all the data carefully and analyzed them with SPSS 21.0 software.Finally,the conclusion is drawn: The implementation of the lexical chunks teaching is beneficial to improve the English writing performance of most junior high school students;the writing performance of students have a strong positive correlation with the number of lexical chunks in their compositions.After the implementation of lexical chunks teaching,the questionnaire survey shows that the students in the experimental class become interested in English writing,they are more confident about writing. |
