Relationship Among Differentiation Of Self,parenting Style And Social Problem Solving

Objective:To revise the Differentiation of self inventory-revised(DSI-R)and make it suitable for Chinese adolescents,to investigate the characteristics of the self-differentiation of Chinese middle school students,and to explore the relationship among differentiation of self,parenting style and social problem solving of middle school students.Methods : Based on the differentiation of self inventory-revised,1500 adolescents were selected as subjects to form the differentiation of self inventory for adolescents.Five hundred middle school students were surveyed by the differentiation of self inventory for adolescents,social problem solving ability questionnaire for middle school students and Family Upbringing Style Questionnaire to investigate the relationship among differentiation of self,parenting style and social problem solving.Results:1.The Cronbach’s α coefficient,split-half reliability of the differentiation of self inventory for adolescents was 0.856 and 0.771.In Exploratory factor analysis determined by the 5 dimensions,whose factor loading ranges 0.329-0.891 showed50.59% by contribution rate of accumulative.2.The total score of the differentiation of self inventory for adolescents was 95.19±19.72,while 5 fractal dimensions’ score was31.69±7.67、16.20±5.96、22.45±6.30、17.52±4.31、7.32±2.89,and the high and low self-differentiation groups have significant differences in parenting style and social problem solving.3.The correlation among self-differentiation,parenting style andsocial problem solving was consistent with the mediating model.Conclusion : The differentiation of self inventory for adolescents meets the requirements of psychometrics;the level of self differentiation and parenting style of middle school students have a good predictive effect on social problem solving and self differentiation partially mediates the effects of parenting style on social problem solving.
