| Based on the E-C translation practice of an educational book,The Education of Children,the report introduces the process of translation,and analyses the typical problems and the corresponding solutions and makes the revisions on the original draft,in hope of sharing my translation experience with other people.Translation is actually a process of understanding,expressing and revision.Therefore,the report adopts the framework of “understanding,expressing and revision” by Professor Li Changshuan to conduct the case analysis.In the process,the translator referred to many related materials for the sake of having a thorough grasp of the original ideas,tried my best to communicate these ideas,and also made them acceptable according to the client?s and the target readers? requirements.The client(Heilongjiang Art Publishing House)wants to improve the sales,so the translation should be as acceptable to the readers as possible.Thus the translator chose reception aesthetics as the theoretical guidance.By this guidance,the translator investigated the readers? reading experience by means of questionnaire,and then revised the translation based on the readers? opinions and suggestions.Finally,my translation quality was accepted by the client,and the book co-translated with other students was published last year.This report is a reflective study of the whole translation practice,which describes the process of it.Under the guidance of reception aesthetics,the translator adopts the translation method of liberal translation,and uses translation skills and strategies,such as addition,division,and reinventing sentence structures,to solve the problems and difficulties encountered in the translation process.And the translator summarizes the theoretical guiding significance of the reception aesthetics for the translation of educational text,as well as the experience and shortcomings in the translation practice,and hopes to provide some help and reference for the translation of similar texts. |
