In this paper,Memory,War and Trauma by Nigel C.Hunt,an associate professor at the University of Nottingham,is used as a text to study the Chinese translation of English prepositions in the fifth chapter and the sixth chapter.The book is an academic book that describes how to understand social and psychological impacts of war and how social and cultural factors influence personal life.The fifth and sixth chapters of this book mainly demonstrate the methods of healing the wounds from war and its positive influences.This is a compelling book that helps explain the impact of war on history,literature,and human development.The author of this paper takes a large number of prepositions in the two chapters of the text as the research object,discusses and analyzes how to translate some English prepositions into Chinese,and summarizes the methods and techniques of preposition translation in order to enhance the readability of the translation and makes translations more consistent with the expression of Chinese habits.This translation practice report is divided into four parts.The first chapter introduces the process of translating this text and explains the significance of the Chinese translation of English prepositions.The second chapter introduces some kinds of theories.It mainly includes the definition,classification and grammatical features of English and Chinese prepositions and the Nida functional equivalence translation theory that fits with the translation methods summarized in this paper.The third chapter is a practical analysis,through the flexible and prepositional prepositions in the target text,to explore the important role of these prepositions in the sentence,and how to accurately translate its meaning.The fourth chapter is a summary of this practice.It mainly explains the gains and shortcomings of this translation practice and helps the author correct and apply it in the future learning.
