Research On Pipe Organ Recording Methods

The pipe organ is an ancient musical instrument with a large volume,many functions,extremely complicated internal structure and manufacturing technology.It has the reputation of "the king of musical instruments".The pipe organ was the most popular instrument during the baroque period when recording technology did not appear.When the recording technology was invented at the end of the 19 th century,the organ was not as popular as it was because it was too large and not known by many people.Although in recent years,many pipe organ recordings have been published at home and abroad,but there is still a lack of systematic and comprehensive information on organ recording methods.National Centre for the Performing Arts is the palace of Chinese performing arts.The pipe organ in its concert hall is known as the "Treasure of the Hall".Not only does its shape match the decoration of the entire concert hall,it can also be played with high level performance tasks in practical functions.This paper first explains the development history of the pipe organ and introduces the structure of it.Then,through the recording practice of the pipe organ of the National Centre for the Performing Arts Concert Hall,this paper shows the idea of the early stage of recording,the position of the microphone during recording,the recording questions that should be pay attention to and various details in post-production.According to field investigation,actual recording and post-production,etc.,a more scientific and appropriate sound pickup method for current theater organs has been analyzed and developed.And by subjective evaluation method,comparing the difference and pros and cons of this recording method with the same track in foreign countries,it is verified that the finished product produced by this recording method can meet the public's auditory aesthetics.It can be used as a successful case to provide ideas,reference and guidance for domestic pipe organ recording in the future.
