As a scholar of tang poetry in the late Qing period,Shi Buhua discussed the development of tang poetry, the distinguishing style of Tang poetry, the aesthetics of tang poetry and du’s view o f poetry, which made him unique in the environment of Song poetry style. This paper takes Shi B uhua’ poetic works as the basic literature to study his poetic thoughts in Tang poetry. The formation of Shi Buhua’s poetic thoughts is inseparable from the background of the poetry circle of the Qing period, especially the influence of the mainstream poetic thoughts. In fact,Shi Buhua chose "style","verve" and "temperament" to observe Tang poetry, but he did not simply list them mechanically, but to absorb the beneficial elements in them and complete the interpretation of Tang poetry through a comprehensive study. On the other hand,it is also related to his life experience and the imperceptible influence between teachers and friends.First of all,it is manifested in its transparent and inclusive view of development.Shi believed that the change of poetry direction "must first be accumulated over hundreds of years",so he paid close attention to the good foundation of the development and accumulation of Tang poetry from the previous dynasties. From the perspective of poetry history,it explains the inheritance, evolution and innovation of poets, verse and poetic style.Secondly,Shi Buhua used many ways, such as excerpt, contrast and quotation,to put forward his aesthetic point of view in Tang poetry appreciation from the perspective of rhythm poetry, ancient poetry and quatrain. From his poetic ideas,we can see Shi’s broad poetic vision and unique poetic views. Finally,an important manifestation of Shi’s respect for Tang dynasty was the worship of Du Fu’s poetics, who was in a turbulent time, had a close feeling to Du Fu in his life, and had a high evaluation of Du Fu’s character and poetic quality. Not only did he learn from Du Fu in his own creation, but also he often took Du Fu’s poems as a model in the process of discussing poems, and provided practical guidance for beginners from the perspective of composition. But Shi Buhua didn’t respect it blindly. He also pointed out the problems of "small" and "vulgar" in Du’s poems to remind later scholars.Shi Buhua stood at the tipping point of an era of change, integrating and deepening the history of poetics in the past, reflecting a certain degree of integration. In his review,he had already made a selection of Tang poetry and interpreted some poetic categories in the Tang Dynasty.Close to our contemporary views on poetics,we can also see a certain modernity. However,Shi Buhua’s ideas still inevitably carry some poetic ideas of feudal literati, which are related to his society and to his conservative personality. The accessibility reflected in Shi’s Tang Poems reflects to a certain extent the reorganization and fusion of poetics in the late Qing period.
