Tourism Chinese is a Chinese language serving a special purpose,at the same time being a branch of Chinese as a foreign language.With the rising standard of living more people start paying attention to different forms of tourism as a way to spiritual fulfilment.Due to the rapid development of China’s economy and its international status enhancing,traveling to China has become a popular tourist destination for people from all over the world.Therefore,Tourism Chinese is becoming a bridge enabling communication and mutual understanding among tourists in China and locals,concerning tourists whose mother language is not Chinese.The widespread use of Chinese language in tourism industry has made Tourism Chinese textbooks come into being.At present,there are many Tourism Chinese teaching materials in the Chinese market,in this work we chose two of them,Experiencing Chinese·Traveling in China and Wishing You Success·Tourism Communication as the object of study,drew up their comparison that made possible their subjective assessment.In addition,we conducted a questionnaire survey among foreign students in order to obtain more accurate results on the study.Combining the results of the comparative analysis and the results of the questionnaire survey,we made an attempt to put forward some feasible suggestions to these two textbooks compilation.The study is divided into three parts:introduction,body part and conclusion.The introduction mainly introduces the reason for choosing the topic,the research object and the research method of this thesis.By combing the current research status of domestic Tourism Chinese,it can be seen that the current research of Tourism Chinese is not perfect.Limited to the analysis of a specific textbook,failing to integrate macro analysis and micro analysis,and lacking an authentic questionnaire survey,it lacks practicality.Therefore,the research significance of this article is clarified,which is to combine macro analysis and micro analysis,to explain examples with theory and to confirm theory with examples.The authentic questionnaire survey combines science and practice and aims to provide some feasible suggestions to editors of travel Chinese.Furthermore,the body part of this thesis consists of five chapters.The first chapter introduces the definition,characteristics and functions of Tourism Chinese from a macro perspective,highlighting that Tourism Chinese as a type of professional Chinese is closely related to travel activities.Compared with foreign Chinese,Tourism Chinese has basic,specialized,cultural,comprehensive and country-specific features which play a prominent role in dealing with travel affairs and understanding foreign cultures.From a micro perspective,the second chapter specifically selects two representative authoritative textbooks:Experiencing Chinese·Traveling in China and Wishing You Success·Tourism Communication.Considering the needs of students and teachers at the same time,the present research firstly studies whether the teaching materials meet the training requirements for students in the examination outline,and whether the design of the curriculum plan meets the needs of students.Then,the scientificity of the textbook is supported by specific conversational theories,linguistic theories,and cultural theories.Finally,concrete examples are selected to confirm the teaching method concepts of the textbooks as well as the feasibility of the textbooks,so as to lay the theoretical foundation for the comparative analysis below from multiple aspects.The third chapter compares the contents of the texts of the two textbooks in detail,including:writing style,text content,vocabulary,language points,after-school exercises,and cultural input,which analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the two textbooks from quantitative and qualitative perspectives and makes objective assessments.The fourth chapter conducts a questionnaire survey on Tourism Chinese textbooks for international students from Soochow University,Youyan Educational Institution and Critical Language Scholarship Program,analyzes the results of the questionnaire survey on the two textbooks,and conducts a comprehensive evaluation of the two textbooks,combining science with practice through real users’ feedback.The fifth chapter makes a comprehensive review from the aspects of macro definition,micro examples,and real feedback,and puts forward suggestions on Tourism Chinese textbooks in terms of textbook writing and teaching methods.
