Executive function refers to the psychological process that individuals consciously control their mentality and actions.Individuals need to coordinate various processes to ensure that cognitive systems achieve specific goals in a flexible and optimized way when they complete complex cognitive tasks.Executive function plays a very important role in many advanced cognitive tasks, therefore it is considered to be the core of working memory. It is found that there are three sub-components of the execution function: updating, inhibition and shifting.Time processing is a cognitive processing of the simultaneity, sequentiality and continuity of the external environment stimulates.Time processing exists everywhere in daily life. Therefore the more precise the time processing is,the greater beneficial to the individual's life.It is noteworthy that time processing requires individuals to constantly monitor and update the information of the time channel, inhibit the interference of irrelevant information, and shift between time tasks and non-time tasks. As a result, there is a close relationship between executive function and time processing. This study was carried out from three experiments, using four experimental paradigms of n-back task?go/no-go task?local-global task and duration bisection tasks to investigate the effect of the three sub-components of executive function on time processing, explore the relationship between executive function and time processing, and reveal the cognitive mechanism of time processing.we drawn some conclusions as following:(1)There was a stable modal effect on the bisection point(BP).The BP of the visual duration was significantly higher than the BP of the auditory duration, the auditory duration was perceived as longer, and the extension effect in auditory duration was a proportional extension effect.(2)The BP of the short duration was significantly lower than the BP of the long duration.(3)There was a stable duration length effect on the weber ratio(WR).The WR of a long duration was significantly lower than the WR of a short duration, therefore the time processing of a long duration was more sensitive.(4)The modal effect was found in the low updating group and the low inhibition group. The BP of the visual duration was significantly higher than the BP of the auditory duration, and the auditory duration was perceived as longer.(5)Under the short duration, the WR of the visual duration was significantly higher than the WR of the auditory duration in the low inhibition group. The low shifting group had the highest WR and the lowest time sensitivity in the visual short duration.(6)The length effect of the duration was found in the low shifting group, and the WR of the long duration was significantly lower than the WR of the short duration, therefore the time processing of the long duration was more sensitive. The low shifting group had lower time sensitivity in the visual short duration.(7)The WR of the low shifting group was significantly higher than the WR of the high shifting group, therefore the time sensitivity of the low shifting group was worse.Under the visual short duration, the WR of the low shifting group was significantly higher than the WR of the high shifting group, therefore the low shifting group had worse time sensitivity under the visual short duration.
