A Report On The C-E Translation Of The Subtitles In The Documentary Of Xinhua Bookstore(Excerpts)

With the rapid development and progress of multimedia technology and electronic information technology,film and television works are also emerging to create brilliant classics.Subtitle translation plays an important role in spreading Chinese culture as an important medium of cross-cultural communication.This report mainly extracts the subtitle content of the third and the fourth episodes of Xinhua Bookstore documentary as the translation text.The documentary was broadcast on CCTV 10 Science and Education Channel in 2017 to celebrate the 80 th anniversary of the founding of Xinhua Bookstore.There are six episodes of documentary of Xinhua Bookstore.According to the time sequence,the course of Xinhua Bookstore in 80 years is reviewed since it was first born in Yan'an.This report unscrambles the subtitle translation of the documentary from the perspective of multimodal discourse analysis,referring to Professor Zhang Delu's comprehensive theoretical framework of multimodal discourse analysis,taking the four levels of multimodal discourse analysis,namely,the cultural level,the contextual level,the content level and the expression level as the theoretical basis,and makes an analysis of the relationship between the language mode,the visual mode and the auditory mode.This thesis analyzes the subtitle translation of Xinhua Bookstore,so as to develop appropriate translation methods and skills,and provide some suggestions for subtitle translation of documentary films,and let the audience have a better experience of watching the video,and more in-depth appreciation and understanding of the documentary.
