Study On English Mobile Learning Strategies Based On Mobile Applications

The development of communication technology and wireless Internet has made mobile learning more prominent.Mobiles,as one of the modern mobile learning devices,play an important role in mobile learning.Learners can more easily achieve autonomous learning anytime,anywhere with mobile APPs.At present,there are a lot of researches on mobile APPs,but most objects of these reserches are college students,relatively few studies on primary school students.Based on mobile APPs and mobile learning,this desertation investigated the higher grades of a primary school about the status quo of English learning with mobile APPs by using literature analysis method,questionnaire survey and interview.The questionnaire was designed from five dimensions:learning attitude,learning purpose,learning habits and learning effects.The outline of interview includes five questions.This research is made up of five parts.The introductory part mainly introduces the research background,content,purpose,meaning and research methods.The first part is to identify related concepts and theoretical foundations.Constructivism learning theory,informal learning theory and contextual learning theory are the theoretical foundations of this research.The second part focuses on the functions of mobile APPs,the characteristics of mobile learning and the relationship between mobile APPs and mobile learning.The third part is to study the status quo of students’ English learning by using mobile APPs.Questionnaire survey and interview were selected to study the current situation.It is found that there are several problems by using mobile APPs.Firstly,students lack awareness of mobile learning.Secondly,students lack learning purpose,learning initiative and attention,what’s more,their physical health is affected,especially,visual impairment.Thirdly,network,mobile devices,real-time interactive functions,mobile learning resources and third-party supervision platforms lead to different problems.The fourth part analyzes the attribution from two aspects:internal factors and external factors.The internal factors include two points.The one is that students who are easily affected by other things lack initiative and self-control ability oflearning when using mobile APPs.The other is that some people lack good information literacy,such as teachers,students and parents.The external factors refer to the quality of mobile learning resource,mobile devices,Internet network,third-party monitoring platforms and so on.The last part mainly proposes related English mobile learning strategies: apply mobile learning metacognitive strategies to English learning;enhance student’’ self-control ability and self-learning ability;use mobile APPs to assist English learning;design mobile learning courses with experts’ help and so on.The last part is about the summary and expectation of the research.
