| With the development of artificial intelligence, natural language processing and other technologies, translation mode is changing. It has become a major trend in the future translation industry to use computer-aided translation(CAT)technology and machine translation(MT)for post-editing(PE)It is selected Chapter 1 and 2 of Writing an Applied Linguistics Thesis or Dissertation A Guide to Presenting Empirical Research as the material for English-Chinese translation Because the selected text is informative text, there are many terms, and some terms and sentences have a high repetition rate, which is suitable to use computer-aided tools Therefore, the“CAT+MT+PE" translation mode is adopted. The selected text was translated by machine first and then the translation was imported into the computer-aided translation tool YiCAT.Based on Reiss’s text typology theory and the Translation Automation User Association(TAUS)post-editing guidelines, the translator did post-editing to improve and refine the translation.According to this practice, combined with some related research by domestic scholars, this report summarized the types of errors in machine translation, which are mainly divided into lexical level, syntactic level, discourse level, and other types of errors Through case analysis,it is found that when machine translation processes simple sentences, the translation quality is high, but for polysemous words and long and difficult sentences, the translation quality is far from satisfactory. Therefore,it is necessary for the translator to do the post-editing by using translation strategies to make the translation more accurate and fluent. Some valuable experience has been gained from this translation practice and analysis First, the translation practice makes the translator have a better understanding of the whole translation process and get familiar with the use of related CAT tools.Second,it is important to use translation technology to improve translation efficiency, but machine translation is unlikely to replace competent translators. Therefore,in order to adapt to the current translation industry, translators need to be able to master the technical methods such as CAT to facilitate their translation, and more important, they also need to have qualified translation competence and skills. |
