A Report On Conference Interpreting Themed With Environmental Protection Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

Recent years have witnessed a rapid development of society and economy across the world,and the environmental pollution has been increasingly aggravating.Meanwhile,environmental protection is sparking great attentions among all sectors and becoming a hot topic of various conferences.This report,based on a consecutive interpreting practice of mock conference entitled “The Development of China’s Environmental Protection”,intends to analyze the feasibility of the Interpretive Theory in directing the consecutive interpreting themed with environmental protection.Three speeches of this mock conference are taken as source material,which possess several language features as redundant information,culture-loaded words,polysemy and unclear logic.The present writer attempts to employ simplification,cognitive complements,and logic processing as coping strategies in conformity with the triangular mode of the Interpretive Theory which includes comprehension,deverbalization,and re-expression.By applying these strategies,she intends to convey the content of speech in an accurate and concise manner,and bridge the gap between the audience and speaker so as to enhance the international exchange in the field of environmental protection.
