| This report chooses the presidential election speeches of Donald Trump as simulated practice interpretation material and explores the translation strategies in interpreting practice based on the Interpretive Theory. The material is composed of two speeches. One is about economy delivered in Detroit in September,2016.Another one is delivered at the Family Research Council’s 11 th Annual Values Voter Summit in October,2016.With the language features of simple words, powerful and short sentences, the speeches bring challenges to consecutive interpretation. Therefore, the interpreter should detach from the original sentence structure so as to let the meaning of the translated version be easily accepted by the target listeners, which is also a key point to interpretation. In case analysis, the author summarized two major skills, amplification and language structure reorganization and also analyzed three challenges encountered in practice, the requirement for cognitive knowledge, effort coordination and public speaking skills with support of the Interpretive Theory. When dealing with the culture-loaded words, the interpreter should adopted amplification to interpret them.Considering the differences expression habit between English and Chinese, the interpreter should restructure the word order to conform the expression habit of target language. At the same time, the requirement for cognitive knowledge, effort coordination and public speaking skills also play a vital role in consecutive interpretation quality. |
