Polyphonic music was originated in Western Europe in the early 9th century.In the early 20th century,polyphonic music was introduced to China due to the birth of new Chinese music.Subsequently,Chinese music theorists and composers began to explore for more than a century.Introducing-learning-absorbing-practicing and other processes,Chinese music theorists and composers combined western traditional polyphony techniques with traditional Chinese folk music to create polyphonic music with Chinese style.After the unremitting efforts of several generations of musicians,the theory and practice of Chinese style polyphonic music have achieved long-lasting results.In the history of the development of traditional Chinese music,the development of horizontal single-melody lines has been dominant.How to integrate the western widely popular polyphony multi-line thinking mode in the creation of musical works,creating more voice and melody line works,creating rich and varied sound effects.It can be seen that writing Chinese-style polyphonic works is the direction that Chinese musicians should work hard in the future.This article takes Wang Peiyuan's "Collection of Small Fugue on the Theme of Chinese Folk Songs" as the starting point and the analysis of polyphony techniques.It is divided into four parts:Chapter one introduces the historical background and development of Chinese style fugue.It mainly includes the creative experience of Mr.Wang Peiyuan and the background of"Collection of Small Fugue on the Theme of Chinese Folk Songs".The second chapter analyzes the creative characteristics of this book.It consists of four parts:theme,answer,question,and intervening.It mainly expounds the application of polyphonic technique which including the source of the theme material,the question of the characteristic tone of the folk songs,the answer,the writing method of the use,the way of interleaving,the use of polyphony techniques such as reflection in five tones and the imitation.In the third chapter,it is thoroughly analyzed the five fugue works and summarized her own experience in creative practice.The fourth chapter is the author's understanding of the creation of Chinese-style fugues and her prospects for future development.In China,students learn polyphony mainly by contacting the excellent western polyphonic works and they know little about Chinese outstanding Chinese-style fugue works.Especially in the era of reform and opening-up,the CPC Central Committee proposed The Belt and Road Initiative,music become as a national borderless language.It is imminent how to make Chinese musical works keep pace with the times.Therefore,it is very important to strengthen the analysis and understanding of Chinese-style fugue works.The author's analysis and summary of "Collection of Small Fugue on the Theme of Chinese Folk Songs" aims to be able to make more people understand the characteristics of Chinese-style fugue creation and the inherent writing rules of the work and make a small contribution to the development and improvement of-the discipline of polyphonic music in China,so that makes Chinese-style fugue and the world Music development in sync.
