Wu'an dialect belongs to Cizhang part of the Jin Group of Chinese dialects. The previous survey of Wu 'an dialect regarded Yin ping and Yang ping as two tone types, with zigzag and flat tone. However, the investigation of this paper found that some Yin ping characters in wu'an dialect and yangping characters in the same syllable structure are very close to the pronunciation, and there are a few opposite characters have been completely the same,it is difficult to distinguish. This shows that Yin ping and Yang ping are in the process of merging In order to further study the process of merging, this paper adopts auditory discrimination experiment about "yinping vs yangping",which is divided into four age groups:The teenager,The young,The middle and The old.According to the data analysis,in general,Yinping has high stability. The proportion of Yinping characters being correctly judged is larger than the proportion of Yangping characters being correctly judged.Yangping is in a trend of converging to Yinping. However, there have also been cases where individual Yinping characters converge with Yangping characters. At present, the scale of merging of Yangping is larger than the scale of confluence of Yinping, and the process and speed of confluence is faster than that of YinpingFrom the syllable point of view, except for individual yangping characters such as "qi""mi" "shi" "yu" "hui" "chan" "cha" "lao",other characters are in a disordered state during the process of confluenceJudging from the frequency of use of the words, the high confluence of yangping characters is used more frequentlyFrom the perspective of age conditions, the four age groups have a convergence phenomenon, the trend of convergence is generally the same,The process of juvenile combined flow is the fastest, followed by the young, then the elderly group, the last is middle-aged group.Gender factors have little effect, only the data between men and women in the youth group have significant differences, and the rest of the age groups are not significant.Educational conditions also have an impact, but only the education level of undergraduates above junior high school and below junior high school has significant differencesThe discovery of the yinping-yangping balance mode of the Wu'an dialect provides a new theoretical model for understanding the causes of historical phonetic changes, including the return of the voiceless entering tone of the Pekinese:because the speed of merging of tones is slow,The sound was originally sent to the tone3,which occurred first in common words, but the tone of the single word has changed before the merger has ended, and the remaining unchanging characters of voiceless entering tone are changed to Yin Ping. There are cases of common words in both tonel and tone3.In the Pekinese, the return of tonel and tone3 are not at different levels, but after one phonological change is interrupted, another phonological change begins to take effect.
