A Study Of Homophonic Network Language From The Perspective Of Memetics

Along with the rapid development of high technology,humanity's life is affected by the unprecedented impulse of the Internet.More and more people begin to communicate with each other through network.The widespread use of network language has made it indispensable in people's daily life.As a tool for network communication,network language has attracted the attention of many researchers.They have studied the network language from various layers.This thesis analyzes homophonic network language from the perspective of Memetics.Memetics is a new pragmatic theory based on Darwin's evolutionary theory to explain the law of cultural evolution.This thesis collects the latest network homophonic language from Xinhua website,Tianya forum,Sohu community,Netease forum,hot words network,2017 Internet hot words lists and other related websites as the research objects,then analyzed these words and phrases under the theoretical framework of Memetics.This thesis adopts the qualitative research method to study the homophonic network language from the perspective of Memetics theory.First,based on its new characteristics and variation types,the homophonic network language is classified into six types.Then,this thesis makes a comparison and contrast between homophonic network language and traditional homophones from phonological level,grammatical level,cultural level,application scope and rhetorical effects to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of homophonic network language.The conclusion shows that homophonic network memes belong to strong language memes.They are more likely to survive in fierce competition than traditional homophones and its strong vitality can promote the evolution and renewal of language.Based on Memetics,this thesis explores the survival mechanism of the homophonic network language.Then the production process,pragmatic effects and cultural significanceare expounded in a comprehensive way,which are analyzed from the new perspective of Memetics.It provides some useful inspiration for the use of homophonic network language.Meanwhile,it also predicts the development trend of the future network language.
