Maria Montessori(1890-1952),a world-renowned Italian early childhood educator,created a scientific method of children?s education in a long-term education experiment at the “Children?s House”,forming an innovative children?s education system.Montessori education method is popular all over the world and is sought after by many educators and scholars.After Montessori preschool education was introduced to China at the beginning of the century,it has gradually spread in depth.Although many kindergartens in China have great enthusiasm for Montessori preschool education,there are still some problems in practice.For example,there are few studies on the translation of Montessori textbooks.Facing this problem,the author chooses Montessori Curriculum Notebook for Practical Life for translation,and writes this translation practice report on this basis.This article is an English-Chinese translation practice report under the guidance of Skopos Theory.Its English-Chinese translation practice materials are selected from Montessori Curriculum Notebook for Practical Life.Montessori teaching aids occupy a certain leading position in the Montessori education system,and are essential materials for teaching.In addition,Montessori teaching aids play an inestimable role in the development of children.Montessori Curriculum Notebook for Practical Life mainly has five parts,namely: Discipline and Deportment,Grace and Courtesy,Care of the Environment,Care of the Self,and Food Preparation Skills.In this article the translation of the content of Grace and Courtesy and Care of the Self are taken as the texts to be reported.In this translation practice report,Text Type Theory is used to analyze the language characteristics of the text,and then Skopos Theory is used as guidance for translation practice to analyze and summarize the difficulties and translation methods in the translation process.Also,the author makes an in-depth analysis of the guiding significance of Skopos Theory on this translation practice.At the same time,the author finds that the source text belongs to information text and vocative text,and the language of the source text is objective and logical.Therefore,in the translation process,different translation methods are adopted following the three rules of Skopos Theory to emphasize the reader as the core and emphasize the authenticity and accuracy of the content,and the Montessori Curriculum Notebook for Practical Life and specific operation steps are introduced as clearly as possible to provide readers with a more readable translation.By writing this translation practice report,the author hopes to help the English-Chinese translation of the Montessori teaching notebook and provide high-quality Montessori early childhood education reading materials.
