| Danilo Ki(?) is a well-known Jewish novelist, poet and translator in the former Yugoslavia.Throughout his entire literary career, although there are not many works,he enjoys an important position in the western literary world in the twentieth century. At that time, all the international critics regard him as the most cosmopolitan and innovative Yugoslav writer after World War II.If the central concerns of his literature--real history and real people--embody the universal nature of his literary themes, and the literary creation with individual characteristics shows the writer’s own innovation in literature. His rich and diversified literary thoughts, profound connotations of works and unique creative styles not only loved by ordinary readers in the west, but alsowell received by admired writers like Joseph Brodsky,Susan Sontag,Milan Kundera,Philip Rose,Nadine Godimer,Salman Rushdie and others. However,it’s a pity that such an important world-class writer seems to have been omitted from the history of Eastern European literature in our country in the twentieth century. There are two clues in his literary works: the obsession with metaphysics and the reconstruction of historical “documentary”.Therefore, this thesis tries to take the most important part of Ki(?)’s literary thoughts— “realism with imagination” as the tentacle of writing,to discuss the varied and unique literary narrative style in his literary works. The thesis will choose three representative collections of three short stories as the main objects of analysis: Early Sorrows:For Children and Sensitive Readers,A Tomb for Boris Davidovich and The Encyclopedia of The Dead.At the same time, through a careful analysis of its innovative narrative style,it further explores its potential profound narrative intent. In that particular era,the writer always insists on starting from the two dimensions of reality and history. He examined and reconstructed the history of the twentieth century and the state of human life as the subject of value under this circumstance. Then the thesis attempts to provide readers with an influential way tofurther know the neglected important writer who integrates cosmopolitan and innovative. This thesis is divided into six parts.Chapter one is the introduction, which aims to explainthe writing purpose and intention of this thesis in detail, including the reasons for choosing this topic, the current research at home and abroad, research ideas and research methods.Chapter two briefly introduces Ki(?)’s “realism with imagination”literary writing view and its origin.Based on that,Chapter three explores a series of modern narrative strategies and narrative intents used by the writer in the text of the novel.Chapter four discusses the “documentary” writing style of the writer throughout the creation.Chapter five deals with its “controlled baroque” styles in from the angle of the relationship between language and identity.Chapter six is the conclusion, summarized the full content. |
