A Report On The E-c Translation Of NBA Sports News

In recent years,with the development of the Internet and diversification of news media styles,the growing influence of National Basketball Association of America(NBA)in China has become synonymous with the American basketball culture and even the highest basketball halls of the world.At present,due to the different professional level of basketball news and translation ability of NBA sports news translators,the translation work of this kind of news in domestic major sports forums has contained many disadvantages with long terms such as low timeliness and low veracity.Meanwhile,the translation research of NBA teams’ sports news and team culture is even more rare.This paper is an E-C translation practice report on NBA sports news during 2017-2018 Season.The news texts are all selected from www.ESPN.com(Entertainment and Sports Programming Network)and www.NBA.com which all belong to San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors.This paper systematically introduces the player interviews,post game interviews,and a series of competitions between the two teams.Meanwhile,this thesis also includes several commercial advertisements and news events of team cultures.Guided by the "Reader Reflection Theory" proposed by the American translator Eugene Nida,the practice report combines the professional information of the two major NBA official news websites to discuss the existing difficulties and solutions in the translation process of this kind of news.This report selects the translation of news headlines,long and difficult sentences,colloquial texts and coin words as entry points,then classifies and analyzes various difficulties through case analysis.Based on the "ReaderReflection Theory",the practice report uses translation strategies such as amplification,free translation,rhetoric method and diagram-text combine method to solve the above difficulties,and finally presents high-quality translations to the target language readers as far as possible.This practice report hopes to provide references for the translation work of basketball events and team cultural,enhance the exchanges with basketball translation talents and target language readers,finally promote the development of NBA news translation.
