A Report On E-C Translation Of Language Policy And Language Planning (Excerpts) From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation

Language Policy and Language Planning-From Nationalism to Globalisation,discusses language policy and language planning play on national construction,and how European nations were constructed in the Modern era;how language groups from different areas communicate with one another;and how small groups revitalize their languages in modern times.The second chapter and third chapter of PartⅡare selected as the translation material.This report consists of four parts,including introduction,progress description,case analysis and conclusion,discussing the translation strategies and translation skills that are adopted from the perspective of communicative translation.Based on the guidance of communicative translation,this report emphasizes such important and difficult points as technical terms,words with special meanings,abstracts nouns and long and difficult sentences with the translation experience of the author.Hence,corresponding translation skills are adopted to solve these problems,including literal translation with annotation,paraphrase,transformation,reconstruction and segmentation.Literal translation with annotation is applied for linguistic terms and cultural terms.Common words with specific meanings are paraphrased under the specific context.As for abstract nouns,parts of speech should be transformed.Reconstruction and segmentation are used to translate long and difficult sentences.By adopting such translation strategies and translation skills,the author tries to produce on readers an effect that obtained on the readers of the original,making the target text smooth and concise.
