| Picture book reading is an important part of primary school students’ English learning.However,how to present English picture book effectively to primary school students has always been a challenge for both teachers and researchers.In addition,many scholars at home and abroad have conducted corresponding research on multi-modal teaching,but it is limited to theoretical research and few researches on its practical application.Therefore,from the perspective of multimodal theory,the anthor practices the teaching mode of English picture book reading in primary schools,aiming to solve the problems of insufficient interest,low motivation and unreasonable learning methods in the current teaching of English picture book reading in primary schools.Based on the research purpose,this thesis will answer three questions:1)How does picture book reading teaching under multimodal teaching affect the improvement of pupils’ English reading interest?2)How does picture book reading teaching under multimodal teaching affect the improvement of pupils’ English reading ability?3)How does picture book reading teaching under multimodal teaching affect the improvement of pupils’ English reading strategy?In order to solve the problems raised in this thesis,first of all,through a specific teaching case,how to use multimodality to complete the teaching of picture book reading is introduced.Secondly,the research object are 120 students in two parallel classes from the fourth grade of Tengzhou Experimental Primary School in Shandong Province.The multimodal teaching model was used in the experimental class and the traditional teaching model was used in the control class.Finally,the advantages and disadvantages of multimodal picture book reading teaching are introduced.The innovation is that the author comparatively study the impact of these two models on interests,abilities and strategies of English learning.After research,this paper draws the following conclusions.First of all,through questionnaire surveys and interviews,we can see that students have increased their interest in English picture book reading and prefer the teaching mode of multimodal picture book reading.In addition,students’ learning abilities and learning strategies have been greatly improved.Students can use resources to solve problems,analyze problems,and deal with problems by themselves.However,during the experiment,it was also found that the students paid more attention to the various teaching forms and ignored the learning of knowledge.Therefore,teachers should adopt reasonable modal forms in teaching.Finally,the ultimate goal of this article is to hope that more English teachers can adopt a reasonable multi-modal English picture book reading teaching method to improve the English learning status of primary school students. |
