As one of the ways to help interpreters improve their interpreting level, the consecutive interpreting practice provides an effective way for interpreters to find and solve problems in time.Through the consecutive interpreting practice of the documentary Forty Wonderful Years in Reform and Opening up,the interpreter analyzes the problems of cognitive efforts in the output and proposes interpreting strategies with Daniel Gile?s the Effort Model Theory from the pre-interpreting preparation stage, interpreting stage to the post-interpreting reflection stage.Daniel Gile?s the Effort Model Theory proposed that the output quality is closely related to the rational distribution and application of cognitive efforts.Once the total amount of cognitive efforts requirement exceeds that of available cognitive efforts, there will be much fault phenomenon such as false and missed interpreting. With this consecutive interpreting practice and the Effort Model Theory, this paper analyzes the problems of cognitive efforts in the whole interpreting process, including the problems caused by encyclopedic knowledge, unclear dialects and confusing subtitles. In view of the above interpreting problems, this paper discusses the corresponding solutions, including: pre-encyclopedia knowledge prediction,pre-interpreting professional terms accumulation,pre-interpreting dialect understanding training,while-interpreting transition information filling,while-interpreting correction of audio-visual information, and avoidance of subtitle interference information. The above analysis of the problems of cognitive efforts comes from practice. It is hoped that the corresponding solutions will be helpful for interpreters to produce high-quality output in the process of interpreting practice, and provide reference for similar consecutive interpreting tasks.
