This is a Chinese-English translation report.The source text is excerpted from Records of Streets and Alleys in Chengdu,a very important literature work in Ba-Shu culture.The source text of the translation report mainly described the history,background and the name of the streets,cultural connotation and development of Chengdu.The source text contains a large number of place names,culture-loaded words,poetry,and long and difficult sentences,the translator has to pay attention to cultural differences between Chinese and English in the translation.The core view of Skopostheorie is that the most important factor in the translation process is the purpose of the overall translation behavior.After fully analyzing the source text,the translator chose Skopostheorie as the guiding theory for this translation report.The translator uses the three principles of Skopostheorie(skopos rule,coherence rule,and fidelity rule)to run through translation practice,and adopts different translation approaches according to the actual situation.Combined with specific case analysis,this article explores how to achieve translation purpose from lexical level,syntactical level and discourse level under the guidance of Skopostheorie,and achieves coherence and fidelity of the translation.Through this translation practice,the translator summarized the guiding significance of translation teleology to this translation project.The translatorconstantly learns and summarizes in the process of translation and report writing.At the same time,the translator believes that in order to achieve translation purposes,they need to strengthen the theoretical knowledge reserve and accumulate relevant translation experience.In order to achieve translation purposes,the translator has to strengthen its theoretical knowledge and translation experience.At the same time,the translator also hopes that this translation report can make a little contribution to the study of Ba-Shu culture translation and lay a solid foundation to the translator for future research and study.
