Chengdu is one of the first groups of famous historical and cultural cities in China. Thanks to its profound cultural and historical background,it is the political, economic and cultural exchange center in Southwest China. The book Record of Streets and Alleys in Chengdu is a masterpiece written by Yuan Tingdong,a famous expert of Bashu Culture.Illustrating with vivid pictures and photos, this book shows the origins, stories and historical changes behind the names of more than 500 streets and alleys in Chengdu including cities, rivers and bridges. From the perspective of Eco-Translatology theory, the translator discusses the translation of some chapters in the book. She analyzes how to adopt different translation strategies to realize the adaptive transformation of language from three dimensions:linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension. The chapters in the book selected by the translator mainly introduce the origin of the names and streets in Chengdu by auspicious and elegant expressions, which has a profound history.Taking the great cultural differences between China and the West into account, the translator analyzes the following three aspects: how to change the part of speech of a word, and integrate and split different sentences from the perspective of linguistic dimension;how to carry out Domestication and Foreignization and semantic extension from the perspective of cultural dimension;and how to perform covert manifestation and semantic interpretation from the perspective of communicative dimension. The case analysis shows that the Eco-Translatology theory has a guiding role and practical value in translation of informative texts. After finishing the translation project, the translator not only develops a strong interest in Bashu Culture, but also has deepened her understanding of the history of streets and alleys in Chengdu. The translator also realizes that she needs to improve her understanding and translation capability in many aspects in order to transmit the information in the book accurately. At the same time, the translator hopes that this translation report could provide some reference for the translators of Bashu Culture and some experience for better application of the Eco-Translatology theory in translation practice in the future.
