A Research On The Design Of Grammar Section In English(New Standard)for Senior High School From The Perspective Of Three-dimensional Grammar Framework

In senior high school English teaching,some teachers think that the grammar section in textbook English(New Standard)published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press of senior high school focuses more on students’ grasp of grammar form and meaning.After learning the grammatical knowledge presented in the textbook,students’ mastery of grammar cannot fully meet the students’ needs of communication in practice.Especially after the new curriculum reform,the new curriculum standard puts forward higher requirements for teachers’ grammar teaching quality and students’ language application competence after learning English grammar.Therefore,this paper mainly studies the high school English grammar section from the perspective of three-dimensional grammar framework,in order to reveal the advantages and disadvantages of the current textbook grammar section design through the following three research questions,so as to improve the quality of high school English grammar teaching,and promote high school English learners English learning efficiency,and finally achieve the ability of strengthening the comprehensive use of English.1.What is the proportion of each dimension in every grammar section in English(New Standard)?2.What is the relationship between the grammar presentation part and the grammar exercises part from the perspective of the three-dimensional grammar framework?3.What are the advantages and disadvantage of the design of the grammar sections based on the three-dimensional grammar framework?This paper firstly defines some related concepts,and then introduces the background and concept of the three-dimensional grammar framework in detail.And based on this theory,the dissertation analyzes the requirements of grammar learning in new curriculum standard.The author finds out that both curriculum objectives and the suggestions of textbook compilation attach great importance to the students’ mastery of grammar use dimension.Subsequently,the analysis of the content of the grammar sections in textbook English(New Standard)for senior high school is carried out separately from the two aspects on the basis of the three-dimensional grammar framework: presentation of grammar items and grammar exercises.In the aspect of presentation of grammar items,the study finds that all the grammar sections cover the three dimensions except the grammatical knowledge that related to sentence components,which do not involve the use dimension.Among all grammar exercises in seven sets of textbooks,55.2% focuses on the form dimension,59.9% on the meaning dimension and 24.1% on the use dimension.In brief,the compilation of the grammar sections of English(New Standard)does not over emphasizing the form of grammar,but gives consideration to the three dimensions of grammar,that is,its form,meaning and use,for both presentation of grammar items and grammar exercises.Therefore,the arrangement of grammar sections of the textbooks English(New Standard)is reasonably designed in three dimensions.The specific dimension that a grammar section places more emphasis on has much to do with the grammar items presented and practiced in this section and students’ cognitive level.If students have difficulty in mastering the form of the grammar item,the focusing on form dimension is more than other dimensions.If the use dimension of the grammar item is a difficult point for students,there is more emphasis on the design of the use dimension.What’s more,this paper analyzes the overall arrangement of the presentation of grammar items and the grammar exercises.In the presented sequence of the grammatical knowledge,the design of the grammar section of this textbook is not systematic enough,and students cannot systematically summarize the internal relations and differences among grammar items.Grammar exercises,as language output,are in various forms,but the number of exercises do not reach the requirement,which needs additional supplement from teachers.Besides,the textbook English(New Standard)pays much attention on reviewing and consolidation of the key grammar points.At the end of this dissertation,according to the above analysis of the grammar sections of the textbooks for senior high school,the dissertation writer gives somesuggestions to textbook editors and teachers about how to make better application of the textbooks in grammar teaching.
