Grammar is an indispensable component of language and it plays an important role in English learning.However,there are many problems in English classes of junior high school.To begin with,the teachers often present grammatical form directly and emphasize the grammatical structure a lot,ignoring the meaning and use of the grammar.Meanwhile,grammar teaching is becoming more and more boring and students lose interest in grammar learning.Consequently,students are not able to use grammar correctly.However,in the Standard of the National English Curriculum,the function of grammar,in addition to meaning and use,is emphasized.In this study,the theory of the three-dimensional grammar is applied to improve students' grammar competence.This research is to solve the following problems:(1)How to design grammar teaching based on the three-dimensional grammar theory in junior high school?(2)What are the effects of grammar teaching by using the three-dimensional grammar theory? Two classes of Luohe Experimental Middle School were chosen as research subjects.Class one was the experimental class,and class two,the controlled class.The method based on the three-dimensional grammar theory is applied in the experimental class,while grammar translation method is applied in the controlled class.All the subjects should take part in the pre-test and the post-test.The tests aim to explore the effects of the three-dimensional grammar teaching.The experiment results show that: Firstly,it is meaningful to carry out three-dimensional grammar teaching.Secondly,two post-test data show that the post-test scores of students in the experimental class are better than those of the students in the controlled class.Especially in terms of usage,students in the experimental class have higher scores than those in the controlled class in translation and composition,indicating that students in the experimental class have better ability of grammar use thanstudents in the controlled class.In conclusion,the method based on the three-dimensional grammar theory can better promote the development of students' ability of the simple future tense's form,meaning and use.
